    I dont know that we will ever see an athlete break the 100m record without a major change to the track surface, shoes, and clothing. When multiple athletes start going sub-9.7, I'll start believing it can be done.

  • @dankuthegreatone2348

    closest athletes to his record now are kerley, coleman and bromell, and they are 0.18s outside of it. ive said this before, athletes these days have a better chance of breaking the 200m world record than they 100m world record, and even the 200m world record is a long shot for anyone currently.

    Flo Jo's 100m record has stood for 36 years and she broke the previous 100m record by 0.27 seconds! Think about that for a moment.

    id imagine bolts 9.58 will last at as long as michael johnsons 400m record did at minimum but its probably more like 20 since neither lyles or coleman is getting close the best bet atm is tebogo but perhaps if he fcouses on 400m he may never reach his 100m potential

    There’s no great talents in the 100 at the moment - so it’s got a minimum 5 more years, but when you look how hard the women have had to work to get close to Fl Jo’s record it shows it’s a 10 year+ project, so I think we’re looking at all east 15 more years

    • @DevonMiniFlicks
      @DevonMiniFlicks 6 годин тому

      What? How?

    • @neandrewthal
      @neandrewthal 5 годин тому

      @@DevonMiniFlicks Humans have to decide what is "misinformation". Humans are fallible and subject to bias, pressure, group-think etc.. And once "misinformation" is policed on platforms then all kinds of powerful groups come out of the woodwork attempting to put their thumbs on the scales of deciding what is misinformation based on their own interests. You don't need to look any further than the very Government of the United States pressuring Twitter to suppress "true information that might lead to vaccine hesitancy". I am very sorry for what is happening to Kipchoge and the situation is indeed very horrible. But it is more horrible for us all to have our freedom of speech eroded by layers of impenetrable and unaccountable bureaucracy deciding what we can and can't say online which is the only possible outcome of policing information like this online. Just think about it...social media companies would have to hire people to decide what is true and what is false. These Klipchoge conspiracy claims are obviously absurd to us but what do some random fact checkers know about it? Nothing. Well maybe with a bit of research it's obvious to see what is right? Well multiply that by the hundreds or thousands of other things these people would be tasked with making quick decisions on while probably being busy and overworked. People in these comments are frantically calling for the creation of a Ministry of Truth, the very thing Orwell was trying to warn us about it. Life is messy. Free speech is messy. Censorship is messier. And we already have laws against stuff like this. Nobody can stop you from speaking in the street so why should they stop you from speaking on social media? If you spole falsely and maliciously about other people then you can be sued for libel but that has to be proven. Also making threats is punishable by law whether you were misinformed by others' speech or not.
